E-mail Print PDF

The Brownie Promise
When you've been in Brownies a few weeks you'll know how much fun it is. You'll have tried new activities, played games, had fun outside plus tons of other fab things. You'll also have made friends with other Brownies in your Six.

The Promise

I promise that I will do my best
To love my God
To Serve the Queen and my country
To help other people
and To keep the Brownie Guide Law

Making Your Promise
Now it's time to get ready to make your Brownie Guide Promise. It's the really special bit about being a Brownie. You should always try to keep it. First there are three things you need to do.

The Brownie Guide Law
Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a Good Turn every day.

The Brownie Guide Motto
A motto is a saying to live by. Your Brownie motto is:
Lend A Hand
Try to remember it all the time and carry it out!

The Brownie Guide Sign
The Brownie Guide Sign is made by using your right hand and three fingers togther. This shows you've made your Promise with three parts.
The Brownie Guide Sign shows that you are now part of the Guide family. Lots of other people make this sign, like Guides, Senior Guides and your Guiders.

Promise Badge
After you've made your Promise your Guiders gives you a Promise Badge and a certificate. You can pin your badge onto your uniform. Each part of the badge means something special. The three leaves stand for the three parts of the Promise and the star is for the Law. The yellow shows you are a Brownie Guide! Other members of the Guide family wear a badge like this but it could be a different colour.

Welcome!
Then the Pack gives you their special Pack Salute to welcome you as a new Brownie.
